Hello Guest
Welcome to the Selwyn At-a-Glance web page

{crest} OCCUPYING A 90-ACRE CAMPUS and drawing students from more than 29 North Texas communities, the Selwyn School offers a rigorous academic program that challenges students.

The Selwyn School is committed to providing an outstanding academic program for students 13 months through 12th grade. The High School began in fall 2003 beginning with the 9th grade and adding an additional grade through the 12th grade. Through high-quality, excellent instruction, Selwyn fosters an atmosphere that creates a joy for learning. While emphasizing reasoning and independent thinking skills, Selwyn's curriculum incorporates a variety of approaches to learning.

{Bruce} The Preschool, 13 months to Pre-K, embodies a developmental approach to learning. Selwyn's Lower School, Kindergarten through 5th grade, introduces and develops the fundamental building blocks of learning: listening, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Middle School students in grades six through eight refine their academic skills while focusing on a high school preparatory curriculum. The Upper School, grades nine through twelve, prepares students to be competitive candidates for admission to the nation's highest universities. Graduates currently are attending Brandeis, Bates, and American University.

The Selwyn School is fully accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), a regional association of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS.)

Featuring its own library, gym, science and computer labs, amphitheater, athletic fields and pool, the spacious campus offers ample facilities to make the learning experience exciting and challenging while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.

The Selwyn family strives to create a community that honors individuals, seeks diversity, and cherishes mutual respect, cooperation and concern for others. It is dedicated to an enthusiastic love of learning, to an appreciation of the natural and social environment and to the preparation of students who will become responsible and effective citizens in a global society.

The small student/faculty ratio and rigorous academic programs at all levels challenge students to do their best and to develop self-discipline and self-reliance. Students are encour {sketch} aged to think clearly, independently, and creatively as they develop their potential. The curriculum is sequentially structured and designed to impart knowledge, develop skills, stimulate curiosity and nurture values so that learning and caring will become lifelong activities.

The faculty is committed to the overall growth of the students and guides them in developing progressively greater degrees of self-confidence and social awareness. Students have opportunities to learn from each other and to develop skills in the classroom, athletics, and school organizations.

In a spirit of cooperation and service, the school family helps to maintain and enhance the campus through regular activities and assists the local community through special projects. Working closely with parents, we encourage students to develop and share their varied gifts with others to benefit their community and the world.
