Welcome to my homepage. My name is Joanne Nicolle and I consider myself a relative newcomer to the profession of Education. I began my career in 2000 as a middle school science teacher. I have been at The Selwyn School since 2005. For two years I taught 5th grade in the traditional program. This is the third year I will be teaching Science to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in our departmentalized program. This year I will also teach Social Studies.
Prior to teaching, I worked in the field of accounting for 17 years. In the early 90's I lost my position to downsizing and had just earned my AA in Business Administration. I got a job as a school bus driver and went to school full time. I graduated in 1996 with a degree in Environmental Management from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. I earned my teaching certificate from Texas A&M - Texarkana. I am certified in Elementary Education and Life/Earth Science Grades 1-8 in Texas. I also held the same certification along with social studies in Arkansas.
Selwyn is an amazing place to teach science. The whole campus is a classroom. This is an equally amazing time in our country's history to be teaching social studies. I feel privileged to be a part of this program.
I am looking forward to another great year as part of an exceptional team of people dedicated to our students.
I have three grown children. One of my daughters is a special education teacher and the other is an information architect for a software company. My son is a mechatronics engineer and my daughter-in-law has her MBA. I have two grandaughters.
